AS the Nigeria Police Force has extended an invitation to the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II,to appear in Abuja on Tuesday, Some Kano Citizens have risen strongly against the development, describing it as an alleged moves to create a State of Emergency in the State.
It will be recalled the Nigeria Police Force has extended an invitation to the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, asking him to appear at the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, by 10:00 a.m.
However,the invitation is related to police investigation an incident that occurred during the recent Sallah celebration.
An official letter, dated April 4, 2025, and signed by CP Olajide Rufus Ibitoye, Commissioner of Police (Operations), a copy of the invitation letter made under the directive of the Inspector General of Police.
The terse letter said in part “I have the directives of the Inspector General of Police, through the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department (FID) to invite you for an investigative meeting with regards to an incident that occurred during the Sallah celebration within your domain.”
However,a source at the Emir’s Palace confirmed that the letter was recieved and aknowledged by the Office of Sarkin Kano on Saturday (today).
It will also be recalled that earlier
the Kano State Police Command had arrested one Usman Sagiru, 20, of Sharifai Quarters, in connection with the alleged killing and attack on vigilante members in the entourage of Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II after Eid prayers.

While sone Citizens who spoke differently on the arrest of one Usman Sagiru 20, on Sunday, March 30, 2025, by the Kano State Police Command of Sharifai Quarters, in connection with the alleged killing and attack on vigilante members that occurred in the entourage of Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II after Eid prayers,” could not linked that incident with the Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ii purported IGPs Invitation.”
However some Kano residents viewed the invitation as another forceful means of removing the Emir and creating serious crises in the State which might lead to the slamming of State of Emergency.
Alhaji Ibrahim Usman therefore said” We cautioned this new strategic moves to set Kano Ablaze and thereby creating an avenue for the State of Emergency in the State, we strongly reject that moves”,
However,other source who preferred anonymity “worried that, “what had happened on Sallah Day was never in anyway a Durbar but rather a movement of the Emir from Mosque to his Palace which is normal for him to ride a Horse not to trek anyway”.
They cautioned the Inspector General of Police against tempering with the peace of Kano, insisting that, “inviting Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ii on a flimsy
