An officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano State Command, sustained injuries during a targeted operation to apprehend two suspected drug dealers in the Bebeji Local Government Area of the state.

The command stated that Musa Usman resisted arrest and attacked one of the officers with a dagger, causing a stab injury. Despite the assault, the NDLEA team successfully subdued the suspects.

This was contained in a statement signed by the NDLEA spokesperson in the state, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, a copy made available to press on Wednesday in Kano

According to the statement,” The
operation, carried out on January 20, 2025, at Rahama Roundabout, led to the arrest of Musa Usman, 25, and Buhari Ya’u Bashir, 24.”

Authorities seized various illicit substances, including 1.1 kilograms of cannabis sativa, eight grams (38 tablets) of diazepam, and 59 grams (165 tablets) of Exol.

While reacting  to the incident, the NDLEA State Commander, Abubakar Idris Ahmad, condemned the attack and reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to its mandate of combating drug abuse and trafficking.

He however emphasised that “Attacks on law enforcement officers in the line of duty will not deter us from carrying out our mission to rid society of the scourge of drug abuse and trafficking,”

He assured the public that the suspects, currently in NDLEA custody, would face charges for drug-related offences and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
