In a surprising turn of events, the Kano State Hisbah Board has officially denied allegations of illicit affairs involving suspended Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwalu Sankara.
The allegations claimed that Sankara was involved with a married woman in an uncompleted building, but the Hisbah Board’s officer, Mallam Aliyu Usman, has refuted these claims.
Malam Usman stated that he had no knowledge of the purported incident, dismissing an audio clip circulating on social media that allegedly featured Sankara admitting to the affairs as a fabrication. “At no time did we have a conference with Sankara where he admitted to any wrongdoing,” Usman clarified.
The controversy began when Hisbah officials responded to a complaint from the husband of the woman in question. Upon investigation, they found the woman in her car while Sankara was seen approaching the gate of the property. Usman noted that as a junior officer, he was not authorized to disclose details about their operations and expressed confusion over the origin of the misleading audio.
The woman’s lawyer, Barrister Rabiu Shuaibu Abdullahi, confirmed that the case has been brought before the court, with his client named as a co-defendant. He expressed satisfaction that the court has directed the Inspector General of Police to investigate the matter.
Barrister Abdullahi revealed that the couple has faced longstanding domestic issues, including threats from the husband, who has allegedly used a firearm during disputes.
Meanwhile, Auwalu Sankara has vowed to pursue the matter to its conclusion, seeking to restore his reputation and that of his family.
The investigation remains ongoing at the Kano State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
