Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has reopened Informatics Institute after 8 years of closure by the immediate past administration.
This was just as governor Yusuf also presented admission letters to 250 students to begin academic activities without delay.
However,while reopening the Institute in Kura Local Government,governor Yusuf’,then expressed his commitment in reopening all Institutions of learning shuts down by the immediate past administration in the state.
The institute is designed to meet the requirements and enhance the digital economy.”
He said that the revival of the institute aligns with his administration broader vision for the digital economy in Kano State.
According to him, the institution commissioned 12 years ago by former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was designed to train youth in information technology, and give them the opportunity to rise to the challenges of modern communication technologies.
Gov.Yusuf added that”This
moment is significant because we are concerned with the issue of education and information technology in Kano State.”
Let me also inform you that many graduates of the institute have made significant strides in their careers and employed in various parastals, companies, ministries not only in Kano but across the globe.
He recalled that ” The Institution had played a significant role in advancing information technology in the region, contributing to the Professional development of the students and enhancing their impacts in key sectors of the economy.”
Governor Yusuf while congratulating students and staff of the institute assured of more support for advancement of the school.
“Let me assure all our students and indeed the citizens of state that this institute will once again be the center of excellence where our young people would be trained in different of information technology, empowering them to become leaders in the digital economy by the grace of Allah.”
Earlier, the Director of the Informatics institute, Mutassim Uba Adamu while announcing the commencement of academic activities, informed the Governor of his determination to attain higher academic accreditation for the Institution.
He then disclosed that Adult literacy Programme will commence in the Institution among other Information Technology relevant courses.
Adamu therefore emphasized that
“The courses to study includes Information and communication technology, machine learning, Robotics, intercom installations, security door installation, fire alarms installations, CCTV and VSat installations, wire and wireless installation among others.”
While appealing to the Governor for the restoration of staff salaries, Adamu also called for the recruitment of qualified teachers in the Institution.
Also speaking at the occasion,the
Kano state Commissioner for Science and Technology Tajuddeen Zaura explained that, the institute is focusing on infor – tech related courses to brighten the future of the younger generations.
Some of the students, Muhamnad Ibrahim,Aisa Waziri and others who received their admissions expressed thanked Governor Yusuf for reviving the Informatics institute and promised to make best of the opportunity.
