AN association under the auspice of Civil Society Interactive ( CSI) has stressed the need for the Federal Government,to engage Civil Society groups and Media in the public education and enlightenment on the advantages and disadvantages of Cyber Crime law to avert it’s wrong eronous believe

Making the assertion on Wednesday at the  communique jointly signed by  the National Coordinator and Secretary;Comrade Abraham Douglas and Comrade Bala Galadima Ikara, members of the CSOs across  28 States of Nigeria reviewed the pros and cons and agree that the cyber security levy will enhance the security framework of financial operations.

According to the group “The Interactive forum noted that the public rejection of the Cyber Crime law and the subsequent CBN directive was as a direct result of lack of adequate consultation and public sensitisation and enlightenment on the Law
Comrade  Galadima Ikara stated that ” The Forum insists that Nigeria is facing a serious security challenges to its survival and unity and that cyber crime constitutes a major element of that challenge and must be defeated.”
He added that “The forum emphasises that Cuber Crime has done a serious damage to the image of Nigeria and Nigerians and its a menace and danger that must be confronted and addressed”
He however said that  the forum supports the CBN deductions to address the crime perpetrated in our cyber space.
This because, the implementation of the Levy will no doubt enhance National Security and  guarantee strengthening of cybersecurity; protecting critical infrastructure and sensitive information.”
The communique further reads: “That in Compliance with Global Standards, the  levy will help Nigeria align with international best practices in cyber security; enhancing the country’s reputation and  attract foreign investment, as investors will be assured of a secure environment for their investments.
The Forum recognises, upholds and supports the Cyber Crime law and demand that it should be amended and reintroduced.
