31 Governors back Tinubu as reforms, projects attract support — Says Delta speaker

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has attributed the growing political support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Federal Government’s economic reforms and infrastructure projects.
Guwor, who spoke on behalf of High Chief Government Empemupolo, said the movement of governors into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) reflected increasing confidence in the Tinubu administration.
He spoke while discussing the strategies of the “Door-to-Door” movement to mobilise grassroots support for President Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, 31 state governors are currently members of the APC, a development he described as an indication of the party’s expanding political reach. Reports also confirm that the APC currently has 31 governors in its ranks.
Guwor identified the removal of fuel subsidy, foreign exchange reforms and ongoing infrastructure projects as some of the major policies of the Tinubu administration.
He cited projects in Kano State, including the rail project and the revamp of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, as examples of infrastructure development under the Federal Government.
The Speaker said the decision by the Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, to join the APC was influenced by the need to align with the Federal Government and participate in its development agenda.
Guwor expressed confidence that Nigerians would decide the fate of the administration at the next presidential election.
“I am very strongly convinced that come January 16, the people of Nigeria will speak in a loud voice in supporting Mr. President to return, to continue his reform,” he said.
On the mobilisation strategy, Guwor said the Door-to-Door movement planned to establish chapters across the northern and southern parts of the country.
He said coordinators and ambassadors would be positioned at ward and polling-unit levels to engage directly with residents and explain the administration’s policies and programmes.
“The plan is that every door will be knocked, every home will be knocked, so that people will give their massive support to Mr. President,” he said.
Guwor added that the movement was targeting broad support for Tinubu across the country, although he did not give specific projections for individual states.
He also highlighted the role of young Nigerians in the mobilisation exercise, noting that the movement’s national coordinator is a young person and former student union leader.
According to him, youth participation would remain an important component of the movement as it expands its structures and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 elections.
