Niger Investment Commissioner Engages Women Shea Butter Producers, Charts Expansion to Mokwa

Adelowo Oladipo, Minna

The Niger State Commissioner for Investment and Private Sector Development, Hon. Alhaji Aminu Suleman Takuma, has engaged women shea butter producers from Agaie, Kutigi and Lavun Local Government Areas as part of efforts to strengthen production and expand the initiative to Mokwa LGA.

The engagement, held on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Commissioner’s Office, NSDC Complex, Minna, brought together representatives of the Association of Women in Shea Butter Production and officials of the Niger State Commodity and Export Promotion Agency.

Director General of the Agency, Hajiya Fatima Ndayako, joined the Commissioner at the meeting, which focused on ongoing initiatives and future intervention plans aimed at improving shea butter processing and value addition across the state.

In a press statement issued by the Chief Information Officer of the Ministry, Ismaila Musa, discussions at the meeting centred on the ongoing Pilot Support Scheme designed to enhance shea butter production in Agaie and Kutigi communities.

Hon. Takuma disclosed that, in line with the Ministry’s expansion strategy, Mokwa Local Government Area has been identified as the next beneficiary of the scheme.
He explained that the project, which enjoys partial sponsorship from the World Bank, is targeted at boosting shea butter production, empowering women economically, and promoting sustainable livelihoods in rural communities across Niger State.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting women-led enterprises, describing them as a critical pillar of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago’s New Niger Agenda aimed at achieving inclusive economic growth in the state.
End.
