In a decisive move to curb rising security threats, Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has announced the immediate establishment of a Special Task Force aimed at securing motor parks and other critical public spaces across the state.

This initiative comes in response to increasing concerns about criminal activities at high-risk locations, particularly motor parks, which serve as major entry and exit points within the metropolitan area.

Motor parks, particularly the Kofar Ruwa Motor Park, have been identified as hotbeds for criminal activities due to the large volumes of human traffic they experience daily. Recent arrests of suspected miscreants at Kofar Ruwa further highlighted the urgency of addressing security vulnerabilities in these spaces.

The announcement was made in a press statement signed by Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday. The move underscores the Governor’s commitment to enhancing public safety and preventing criminal infiltration in the state.

In addition to motor parks, the task force will extend its operations to other vulnerable public spaces, including filling stations and areas where transient populations often gather.

The newly-formed task force will focus on intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, and conducting coordinated security operations to protect motor parks and their surrounding areas.

Governor Yusuf stressed that the establishment of the task force is a proactive measure aimed at neutralizing threats before they escalate.

He also highlighted the importance of inter-agency coordination in ensuring the effectiveness of the security operations.

“The safety and well-being of our citizens are paramount. This administration has zero tolerance for criminality, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our state remains a safe place for all,” Governor Yusuf said.

He reassured the public that the state government would provide full support to security agencies in their efforts to protect lives and property, reiterating his commitment to maintaining law and order.

The move has been met with widespread approval from citizens, with many expressing hope that the new initiative will bring lasting peace and security to the state’s bustling public spaces.
