Kano dispatches 618 students to schools across Northern states

The Kano State Ministry of Education has dispatched 618 indigenes of the state to their respective schools under the Northern States School Exchange Programme as the first term of the 2026/2027 academic session begins.
The students, comprising returning students and new intakes, were assembled at Rumfa College, Kano, before being transported to schools spread across 15 of the 19 northern states.
To ensure their safety during the journey, the ministry assigned official escorts to each group to accompany the students and ensure their safe arrival at their various destinations.
Speaking during the exercise, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Alhaji Bashir Baffa Muhammad, commended members of the School Exchange Programme Committee and other officials for their dedication and effective coordination of the exercise.
He also expressed appreciation to the state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for his support for the School Exchange Programme and other initiatives aimed at improving access to quality education for Kano students.
The Permanent Secretary urged the students to remain focused on their studies, abide by the rules and regulations of their respective schools and conduct themselves as good ambassadors of Kano State.
He wished them a successful academic session and assured them of the ministry’s continued support for their educational development.
Also speaking, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation and Chairman of the School Exchange Programme Committee, Auwal Mustapha Muhammad, urged the students, particularly newly admitted JSS 1 pupils, to take their studies seriously and make maximum use of the opportunities provided through the programme.
He also called on parents and guardians to maintain regular communication with their children and the schools to monitor their academic progress and wellbeing.
According to him, the School Exchange Programme is designed to provide Kano students with opportunities to access quality education while broadening their educational experience through placement in selected schools across northern Nigeria.
Muhammad appreciated the cooperation of parents, school authorities, escorts, committee members and other stakeholders whose contributions facilitated the smooth commencement of the students’ journey to their various schools.
