Kola Oyelere, Kano

About 50 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Kibiya Ward in Kibiya Local Government Area of Kano State have defected to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), citing Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s commitment to good governance and development.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Balarabe Kiru.

The Kano State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Alhaji Adamu Kibiya, while receiving the defectors, said the mass defection was a clear testimony to the impact of Governor Yusuf’s developmental strides across various sectors.

He highlighted the administration’s achievements in health, education, infrastructure, empowerment, and agriculture, stressing that the initiatives have touched the lives of people across the state.

Kibiya assured the new members of equal opportunities and support within the NNPP, urging them to remain committed to strengthening the party and ensuring the continued success of the present administration.

Leader of the defectors, Yakubu Alhaji, said the group decided to join the NNPP in recognition of Governor Yusuf’s people-oriented policies and visible development projects.

He criticized the previous APC-led administration in the state for neglecting Kibiya Local Government Area, alleging that its policies were self-serving and failed to bring meaningful development to the people.

Also speaking, the Councilor representing Kibiya Ward, Auwalu Sarki, commended the Commissioner’s efforts in promoting the NNPP and the governor’s policies at the grassroots.

He revealed that more groups in the area were preparing to join the NNPP soon, describing Kibiya’s leadership style as instrumental in attracting new supporters to the party.
