Police recover stolen Deputy Governor’s convoy vehicle, Arrest suspect

The Kano State Police Command has recovered a Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the convoy of the Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, after it was reported stolen earlier this week.
However,it will be recalled that the car thief gained access into the Government House through Gate 4 and left with the vehicle around 5am on Monday.
It was learn that the car thief has sneaked into Kano Government House in the wee hours of Monday and drove away with a Toyota Hilux van.
Insiders said CCTV footages analysed after the theft showed that the thief drove away through the main gate of the Government House.
According to the source, driver of the vehicle, Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, was interrogated and briefly detained.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, the recovery followed a swift and coordinated operation by security operatives in the early hours of the day.
A suspect, identified as a permanent and pensionable driver attached to the government, has been arrested in connection with the theft and is currently assisting the Police with their investigation.
The Deputy Governor’s Office described the incident as “a clear breach of trust” by the arrested driver, emphasizing that appropriate disciplinary and legal actions would follow upon completion of the investigation.
While commending the professionalism and quick response of the Police and other security agencies, the statement reassured the public of the government’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state.
“The general public is hereby advised to remain calm and rest assured that the security of lives and property remains the top priority of the Kano State Government, both within and outside the Government House,” the statement added.
