Kano Gov. assures provision of quality education in public, private schools

The Kano State Government, under the leadership of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed its commitment to providing quality education in both public and private schools across the state.
However, the State Commissioner of Education, Dr. Ali Haruna Makoda, emphasized this commitment during the launch of the National Policy on Non-State Schools in Nigeria in Abuja.
Dr. Makoda said Kano government under, the able leadership of governor Yusuf, is taking bold steps aimed at actualizing provision of quality and accessible education in both public and private schools.
The Commissioner outlined the declaration of state of emergency, on education, allocation of the lion -share to the education sector, provision of learning materials, provision of schools infrastructure, construction and renovation of schools as clear testimony of the administration’s commitment towards ensuring quality education.
He added that” In 2024, His Excellency being the chairman of the executive council graciously approved the allocation of 29.75% to the education. In 2025, the Governor again approved 31.5% to the education sector and this shows the level of commitment he has in the sector “
He hinted that Kano State Ministry of Education through the Private and Voluntary Institutions Management Board is working with private schools owners to ensure total compliance with rules and regulations governing private schools.

According to him, the government would ensure that non-state schools in the state meet national standards and provide quality education thereby promoting accountability and transparency in their operations.
Dr. Makoda further assured of the state support in actualizing the objectives of the National Policy on Non-State Schools for the overall benefit of the state and the country at large.
The 2024 National Policy on Non-State Schools in Nigeria with its implementation guidelines was launched by the Minister of Education Dr.Tunji Alausa at Abuja in the presence of key education stakeholders.
The Policy aims to regulate and improve the quality of education in private and mission-owned schools by applying its implementation guidelines.
