The Kano state government in it’s efforts to assist onion farmers against wastage of their produce,has installed an onion technology storage,capable of preserved and stored onion for six months with minimal damage

Making this known while conducting members of Correspondent chapter, Nigeria’ Union of Journalists ( NUJ) round the building where the technology machine was installed,the
Infrastructure engineer, of the Kano State Agro-Pastoral Development Project,(KSADP)Mr. Zahraddeen Hamisu Zarewa, said there were many of this instruments within some local government area of the state

According to him,” State government,through KSADP developed an idea of onion storage and onion aggregation,this happened to be a first of it’s kind

Here the onion farmers and onion aggregated in groups can provided a building,while the government  would installed the technology instrument storage for them

Mr.Zarewa added that ” we all know the onion has a few lifespan that can lasted without been damage because is a perishable good

However,with this technology machine,the farmers can stored their onion for a period of six months ,with a minimal wastage or damage

This technology works with solar lighting,while each component has capacity to stored 25 bags of onion and a sum of N100,000 would be pay when collecting after six months

He however disclosed that the idea behind this move by the state government was to assist the farmers and assisted them against wastage of onion harvest

He also added that by the time the farmers collected their onion ,the would gained more profit, because there would be a scarcity of the onion in the market
