Doguwa emerges Kano APC Chairman after resigning as Commissioner

Kola Oyelere, Kano

All Progressives Congress in Kano State has elected a new set of state executive members to steer the affairs of the party, with Haruna Doguwa emerging as the new State Chairman.

The election, which was held on Tuesday night, produced Doguwa as the party’s helmsman following his recent resignation as Commissioner for Water Resources in Kano State to contest for the top position.

His resignation was earlier accepted by Abba Kabir Yusuf, paving the way for his participation in the party’s internal electoral process.

Other officials elected during the exercise include Salisu Maje-Gwangwazo as Deputy Chairman, Prof. Yusuf Sabo-Bichi as State Secretary, and Fatima Dala as State Woman Leader.

The newly constituted executive committee comprises 28 members, who are expected to strengthen the party’s internal cohesion and reposition it ahead of future political engagements in the state.

Party stakeholders at the event described the exercise as peaceful and transparent, expressing optimism that the new leadership would consolidate on existing structures and promote unity among members across Kano’s 44 local government areas.

Doguwa, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to work with all party stakeholders to ensure inclusiveness and grassroots mobilization, while preparing the party for upcoming political activities in the state.
