Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has been commended for provision of 73,800 desks and chairs to schools in the state adding that the gesture had drastically reduced high numbers of pupils on bare flours to receive learning in most of schools that benefitted

Making the commendation on Monday,the Headmaster Yelwa Model Primary School, Alhaji Umar Aliyu ,when speaking with Correspondent chapek of Journalists adding that still there is a lot to do in this direction

He added that though ” We have to give kudo to the state government for declared a state of emergency on education,despite the fact that my school was not benefitted from this gesture”

However, Alhaji Aliyu then listed some challenges facing the school,saying that with the pupils population of 1,164 and 36 teachers including himself there is no functional toilets

Aside from that there is no good perimeter fence ,this he said made thief’s to have easy access to steal schools property without been arrested

According to him there had been serial theft in the school where several items have been stolen in the last two months.

“As you can see the school fence is very low and this makes the school very porous by allowing criminals access to the premises.

“As you can see they pierced the ceiling of my office, as well as the computer office where stole the entire wiring and sockets.

They have also stolen the school generator, the gas pot of our Samsung refrigerator and our borehole system machine worth N500,000.

However,while speaking with both the senior not and girl of the school,Saminu Sanusi and Khadija Ahmed Suleiman respectively,they urged the state government to provided the school with enough toilets

However,the Yalwa model primary school,in Unhogo Special model primary school, Alhaji Haladu , stressed the need for the state government to addressed inadequate in teachers in the school

According to him,” With a total of 2,943 pupils,only 15 teachers were on ground to teach the large number of the pupils

He also disclosed that the worsen aspects was that there were no functional toilets,a situation that posed a serious health hazard to the pupils

He also added that there were no dispensary noting that pupils that fell sick were normally taken to nearby maternity center

“We have no functional toilet in the school, no dispensary, but we have a borehole, though it has broken down, but can still be fixed” he stated.

The headboy, Nura Yusuf and the head girl, Jamila Isah, also confirmed the sad situation of open defecation by the pupils while calling on the government to build more toilets for them and provide them with qualified teachers.

They  appeal to the state government to provide no fewer than ten toilets to be shared by four each while the remaining two would be for their teachers

However,the construction of new classrooms were ongoing,with some of them have reached a eighty percent completion
