Kano state Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has called on planners of the hunger nationwide protest to suspend demonstrations and submit their demands before him for possible actions in onward transmission
This was just as he stated that given the economic position of Kano in Nigeria and the African continent, Governor Yusuf said, protest especially violent one, will  destabilize peace and the economy.
He made the disclosure  at a meeting with Traditional rulers and Business community at Government House Kano.

Governor Yusuf however promised that, when the demands are submitted to him, he will personally convey them to President Bola Tinubu.

According to him”I will mobilize a special delegation from the state comprising of Traditional rulers, Businessmen and Ulamas to deliver to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu all your demands.

He also  acknowledged the constitutional rights of peaceful protest, warned against violent protest in Kano urging protesters to show themselves and suspend the protest.

He said his administration has introduced numerous interventions to cushion the economic hardship adding that, more measures will be unveiled to turn around the economy and create jobs.

He therefore called on the Business community to help intervene in the current economic challenges by reducing price of commodities.

Yusuf then  announced plans to establish an agency on Price control in Kano state.

“Will do so through the collaboration with the Business community for the benefits of the people of state.”he said

Speaker Jibril Falgore promised legislative commitment in providing policies in ease of doing business in Kano state.

He called on the Kano business community to continue giving cooperation to the state government for the prosperity of the state.

The Emir of Kano Khalifa Mohammadu Sanusi while speaking on the proposed nationwide protest charged youths desist from it pointing out that the planners are faceless.

He called on political parties to nominate credible and God fearing personalities as candidates for the forthcoming local governments elections.

He said the society will get it right when the right leaders are elected into positions of authority.

Meanwhile in a related development,an association under the umbrella of ” War Against Injustice , ( WAI)said they decided to shelve earlier plan if  protest, because of the prevailing situation.
Speaking at the press conference, the executive director of WAI,Comrade Umar Ibrahim Umar ,disclosed that protest is a constitution right of all Nigeria, as if enshrined in the constitution
“We stand before you today with mix of frustration and determination , because we had planned to hold a peaceful rally to express our concerns about the state of the nation “
But due to security concerns in Kano state,we were forced to abandon those plants,as we fear it can be hijacked by miscreants to foment trouble and caused breakdown of law and orders
In view of this ,we have various demands that if done can alleviate the myriad of challenges facing the citizens and the country
We were calling on Federal government’to end poverty, hunger and unemployment
We also demand good governance and accountability from our leaders adding that the current state of governance in the country ,has been married by corruption, inefficiency and lack of transparency.
Other demands are decent wages for Nigerian workers noting that the current wage is inadequate
He therefore added that every worker deserve a living wage that allows him to provide for himself and his family
