1. The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Kano Sector Command, has said that  25 travellers, lost their lives ,while 53 others sustained various degrees of injuries
    in an early Monday morning auto crash.

    This was contained in a statement by the FRSC Sector Commander in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi a copy made available to press  on Monday in Kano

    The statement disclosed that the    incident occurred in the Dangwaro International Market, in the metropolitan area of Kano City.

    He however added that the  travellers were said to have been loaded in a trailer which also carried cows heading to the Southern part of Nigeria from Maiduguri.

  2. Accordithe to him, the trailer collided with another vehicle and somersaulted.

    Abdullahi further disclosed that
    the accident involved a trailer (IVECO) with registration number XA 311 ZB.

    He stated that” We received a call at about 03:15 am on July 1, 2024. On receiving the information, we quickly dispatched our personnel and vehicle to the scene of the incident to rescue the victims at 03:30 am,”

    The Sector Commander said that the accident occurred as a result of excessive speed, dangerous driving and overloading which led to loss of control.

    He said that the victims were immediately conveyed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital Kano for urgent medical attention.

    “The doctors on duty confirmed 25 dead out of the victims”, he said.

    He further explained that during the rescue operation, items recovered include six motorcycles, ten mobile phones, animals (goats and rams), maize and the sum of N400,000.

    Abdullahi said that all the recovered items were in police custody.

    The command however.warned motorists against unsafe practices of transporting animals, goods, along with human beings.
