The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has praised security agencies for their bravery and professionalism in repelling bandit incursions into Shanono Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau commended the troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation MESA, led by the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, for their swift and effective response to the attempted infiltration by bandits from neighbouring states.
According to the statement, on November 1, acting on credible intelligence about the movement of bandits, troops of the 3 Brigade—supported by other security agencies—engaged the attackers in a fierce gun duel, resulting in the neutralization of 19 bandits.
While hailing the troops’ gallantry, Senator Barau expressed sadness over the loss of two soldiers and a vigilante member who paid the supreme price during the operation. He described their sacrifice as noble and a testament to their dedication to national security.
The lawmaker called on residents of Shanono and neighbouring communities to remain calm, vigilant, and to promptly report any suspicious activity to security operatives for immediate action.
“Shanono and other local government areas in Kano North Senatorial District, and indeed the entire Kano State, are peaceful,” Senator Barau stated.
“We will not allow these marauding criminals who are on the run from neighbouring states following military operations to destabilise our communities.”he stated
He further reiterated his commitment to supporting security agencies in Kano North and across the state to sustain ongoing operations aimed at protecting lives and property.
