The Kano State Government has reiterated the administration’s resolve to prioritize public health, citing malaria elimination as a cornerstone of its agenda.
Making this known while representing the state governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf,his deputy governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, said the government will not leave any stone unturned in the course of eliminating malaria from the society
He made this commitment during the official launch of the 2025 Seasonal Malaria Chemoprevention (SMC) Campaign and Insecticide-Treated Net (ITN) Distribution at Burji Primary Health Centre in Madobi Local Government Area.
“Our administration has implemented robust measures to protect the well-being of Kano’s residents, and today’s initiative reaffirms our pledge to combat this preventable disease,” he stated.
Earlier,the state commissioner of health ,Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, highlighted the government’s strides in revitalizing the healthcare system, particularly at the primary level.
According to him,” We have renovated numerous health facilities and expanded free medical services as part of our broader reforms,”
Dr. Labaran also listed several upgraded Primary Health Care Centres and assured sustained oversight to enhance service delivery statewide.
The 2025 SMC Campaign seeks to shield thousands of children and high-risk populations during peak malaria season through preventive medication and mass distribution of insecticide-treated nets.
He added that “This initiative aligns with the state government’ s multi-pronged strategy to reduce malaria prevalence and strengthen healthcare access”.
