He stated that rescue teams from the state fire service headquarters were immediately deployed to the scene. All three victims were pulled out, but two were found unconscious and later confirmed dead. Only Abubakar Muhammad survived.

He however disclosed that the injured victim was taken to the Kura Local Government Area Specialist Hospital for medical treatment, while the remains of the deceased were handed over to officers at the Kura Police Division.
Abdullahi said the fire service has since cautioned residents to properly secure or cover abandoned wells to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
